We Love to Sing!

In Pre- Kinder we are learning many new songs and learning a lot by singing them. Every day we sing, "Hello Friends" in the morning. In the afternoons, before we go home we sing, "Good-Bye Friends." We are also learning the days of the week and will begin to learn one color per week. In the video you will be able to see the students singing. They love the songs and do a fantastic job singing them! Enjoy the video!

Rewarding Good Behavior

We want to encourage our students to behave in a positive way. In order to this we have created a system that is working well so far. Each student has a note card with their name on it. When they earn ten stickers, they get a prize. The students can earn stickers by showing outstanding behavior or being a good example to the rest of the class.

Thankful for Extra-Helpers!
We are very thankful to have extra help in our classroom. We have two high schoolers who come every week. Mrs. McCrea comes to our classroom every morning and helps us with a little bit of everything. And Mrs. Uribe comes to help every day during lunch time and help us get ready to go home. They are a great addition to our class!

Thank you for your support at home and have a blessed week!

Loving Every Day

Enjoying Special Activities

The students are getting used to the different class routines and being at school every day. They seem to enjoy classroom activities as well as special classes. Last week, we had Art class with Mrs. Mendoza and they had a great time decorating their names. They did a beautiful job! We will be having Art class once a month. We have P.E twice a week with Mr. Bautista and this is always a highlight on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Chapel is on Thursdays, and last week we got quite a few complements for behaving well! The students sang throughout the whole day the songs that we had learned that morning. Mrs. Afanador was the speaker and she encouraged us to be ambassadors for Christ wherever we are.
Every day in the classroom we have time for centers. We have a home, building, writing, reading and a math center. Mrs. Velasco or Miss Olivera assign about four students per center. This is a great time for the students to get to know each other.
Our afternoons continue to be quite restful considering we have a pretty full morning! About half of the students take naps. The rest just lay quietly for about 30 minutes. After waking up, the students brush their teeth and then go to a center for remaining time. This is what our days are looking like here at school. I know that you enjoy knowing what your children are up to :)! They are doing great!

"Miss Olivera we are not playing in the bathroom, just brushing our teeth..."

Thank you very much for your support at home.Have a blessed week!

First Week in Pre-Kinder

Happy Birthday Miss Olivera

On our very first day of school we had a birthday party!!! I never thought that I would be starting the first day of pre-school on my birthday. What a great present!! I received many hugs, beautiful cards, many wishes, a lot of cake and candies. I felt loved and blessed to be able to spend this special day with my new students!! Thanks for all the notes and presents!

Classroom Rules and Routines

This week we spend a lot of time learning the classroom rules. They are, "Obey right away and never hurt anyone inside or outside." The students placed the fingerprint on the poster where they are written. By placing their fingerprint they were committing to follow the rules. We also spent time learning classroom routines in order to make our days go by smoothly.

Have you seen Our Gingerbread Man?

That is right we spent one hour looking for the Gingerbread man all over the school. We only found clues in the different offices and special places of our school. They all said, "Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me I am the Gingerbread man." We finally found him resting in the nurse's office. As we were looking for him we met some important people and became familiar with our school. We had a lot of fun!

Tired Anyone?

As you can see we have been having great days together. Mrs. Velasco and I love being the Pre-Kinder teachers. We have truly enjoyed getting to know each one of the students, they are precious! Each day we work very hard and have a great time together but by the end of each day we are exhausted:)!

Thank you for your support!

Dreams Coming True

Starting Pre-Kinder at ECA

The process...

After many prayers and meetings last year we decided to go ahead and start Pre-Kinder at ECA. Starting such a big project implied many things such as, a new classroom, new teachers and selecting new students. The administrative team and the school Board felt the Lord leading this way. So we all decided to begin this process!

Building a new classroom was a lot of work...

The week before school started...

This is what it looked like on the first day the students came...

We are still working on it. Thank God we had many people helping!

The "New Teachers"...

Miss. Olivera will teach only in English...

Mrs.Velasco will teach in Spanish...

About Miss Olivera and Mrs.Velasco

Mrs. Velasco and I have been working together teaching first grade for the past two years. We love working as a team and we have a heart for young children. We both had planned to leave ECA after our second year, however God had different plans for us. He knows our hearts better than we do. Our principal, Mrs. Afanador, offered us to take on the challenge of starting this project. After prayer we both decided to take it on. Praise the Lord for it! We are happy and excited to teach your precious children! It is great to already know some of you because we have taught your older children. We look forward to getting to know you more and to get to know the new families. We thank God for the faithfulness up to this point and what before us.
We are here to serve you and feel free to contact us during school hours or by e-mail. And please leave us comments if you are checking our blog!

Working with you and for His Glory,

Miss Olivera and Mrs. Velasco
